The CleanerNet has officially partnered with Bark to provide all of it’s router level parental control services. If you have not yet switched your account over, or have questions about what steps to take next, please review the information below and contact our support team at [email protected] if you need additional information or assistance.
Do I Have to Switch To Bark Service?
YES! The CleanerNet has agreed to move their clients and services over to the Bark Platform by the end of 2022. Consequently support for both the CleanerNet App and all CleanerNet services are no longer available or active.
If you are an existing customer, and currently have an active CleanerNet Account, we recommend that you upgrade to Bark as soon as you are able to do so. We sent out a series of emails with information about the upgrade program and promotions that are available to our existing clients. If you did not see or receive these emails please contact our support team at [email protected] and they can send you that information directly.
How Long Will My CleanerNet Service Work?
The CleanerNet App & Software have been discontinued and all active accounts have been cancelled.
We recommend that you take advantage of the Bark Home and/or CleanerNet Router Promotion so you may continue to provide both monitoring and protection to your network. . If you have any questions about these promotions, or how to switch your account over to Bark, please contact our support team at [email protected].
I Just Activated My CleanerNet Mini This Year. Now What?
If you purchased a CleanerNet Mini in 2022 please contact our support team at [email protected] and they will provide a refund for the remaining time left on your “free” trial period. This can be applied to either a new Bark Home subscription or CleanerNet Router.
What Happens if I Already Paid for an Annual Subscription?
Those who have an Annual Subscription will receive a credit for the remaining time left on their subscription once their CleanerNet Account has been closed. If you close your account, and do not receive a refund within 7 days, please contact our support team at [email protected] and they will be able to assist you with the refund.
Individuals whose accounts are scheduled to renew between now and December 31st 2022 will be moved to a “month-to-month” subscription plan and will only pay for the time they use their CleanerNet account through the end of the year.
What should I do if I am using a CleanerNet Mini?
If you are currently using a CleanerNet Mini you will want to take advantage of the special Bark Promotion which includes a free Bark Home upgrade at no extra charge to you. You should have received an email with a link to take advantage of this offer but if you missed it, please contact support at [email protected].
Once you receive the new Bark Home device you can simply remove and discard the Mini from your Router and replace it with the new device. Once you activate your new Bark Home device please be sure to log in and cancel your CleanerNet Subscription to avoid any additional charges on your account through December 31st of 2022.
What should I do if I have a CleanerNet Router?
If you have one of the current CleanerNet Routers, ( pictured above) your device is already compatible with Bark Home Service and can be moved over at any time. This does require a firmware update so please contact support at [email protected] and send them the serial number of your router, located on the bottom of the device, so they can upload the correct firmware so you can activate your Bark Account.
Please note that once you switch over to a Bark account you will want to log in and cancel your CleanerNet account to avoid any additional fees or charges through the end of 2022.
If you are using the AC1200MS or AC1200M Router, (pictured above) , then you will need a Bark Home Device or a New CleanerNet Router. The Bark Home will plug into the back of your existing CleanerNet Router and will apply filters and monitoring to your network. You may also use a new CleanerNet Router which includes Bark in-home monitoring as well.
If you are using the 1300MS Router, (pictured above) , then you will need to perform an update to the firmware on this device in order to activate your Bark Account. To upgrade your router please follow these steps:
(1) Click Here to download the latest available firmware for your router. (*NOTE* You cannot open this firmware file. Doing so will give you an error message).
(2) Disconnect your PC from the internet.
(3) Using an Ethernet cable, connect your computer to the LAN port of the router, open a web browser and log into the web interface (type 192.168.11.1 into the URL field). This step can be done over WiFi however we highly recommend a wired connection if possible.
(4) Login using your username and password. The default username and password can be found on the bottom of your router.
(4) Navigate to ‘Administration‘ -> ‘Firmware Upgrade’ and click ‘Choose File’.
(5) Navigate to the firmware file you downloaded in step 1 above and select it. If you did not move the file it should be listed in your “Downloads” folder.
(6) Click the ‘Upgrade’ button.
(7) After the file is uploaded, the router will display a confirmation message.
(8) Wait for the router to apply the firmware update.
(9) Once the firmware file has uploaded, the router will reboot and be running the new firmware.
Do not remove power to the router while it is being flashed with new firmware or it may lock up the router and you will not be able to recover. If using your laptop, make sure there is sufficient battery or it is plugged into a power source.
(10) When the router reboots you will need to enable Bark Services to run on the device. To do this you will need to log into the router again following steps 3 & 4 above.
(11) Navigate to the Security Tab – Click Web Filtering – Service Platform should say “Bark” – Toggle the Service to “Enable” – and Click “Save & Apply” ( You should see a pairing code after a few seconds. If you do not see the pairing code click the Save & Apply button again).
(12) Once you’re router firmware is up to date, and Bark has been selected in the Security Settings, you can activate your account by clicking here.
What should I do if I am using a Router Limits Device?
ROUTER LIMITS MINI – If you are currently using a Router Limits Mini you will want to take advantage of the special Bark Promotion which includes a free Bark Home upgrade at no extra charge to you. You should have received an email with a link to take advantage of this offer but if you missed it, please contact support at [email protected].
ROUTER LIMITS ROUTER- If you are using a Router Limits router we would recommend that you take advantage of our CleanerNet Router promotion and upgrade your router to current hardware. The new router supports gigabit internet and networks and is ready to be connected to your Bark Account out of the box. You should have received an email with information on how to take advantage of this offer but if you missed it, please contact support at [email protected].
Once you receive your new Bark Home device or router you can simply remove and discard the old equipment and replace it with the new device.
What should I do if I am using a Luxul Router?
At present time Luxul has not upgraded their devices to support Bark Services but a firmware update may be available in the future. If you want to continue to protect your internet in the meantime we recommend that you take advantage of the Bark Home promotion and connect the new Bark Home device to your existing router once you receive it. After you activate your Bark account please log in and cancel your CleanerNet Subscription to avoid any charges through the rest of 2022.
What Should I Do With My Old CleanerNet Equipment?
If you are currently using a CleanerNet Router you may continue to use this device as a stand alone router in your home if you wish.
The CleanerNet Mini is incompatible with Bark Services so this device can be discarded or recycled.
What should I do if I live outside the U.S. ?
Bark does not currently ship their products outside of the United States so you will need to purchase a CleanerNet Router to get Bark Service or move your account over to a different internet monitoring company who provides their services in the country where you live.
